Little Critter

have you ever heard of the 'little critter' books? i used to read them when i was little and loved them, but i forgot all about them until i was babysitting one day, and the little girl i sat for requested i read one. well, there's one book in the series that especially applies to me this week--it's called ' i just forgot.'

when i was posting about nineties inspired fashion, 'i just forgot' to include this:)

for those of you who like doc martens and the nineties trend, you'll be happy to know that doc martens is coming out with its own clothing line!

i also forgot to include this too!

F21 belt and shoes, vintage dress

this dress is so comfortable! i was going to put it up on etsy, but unfortunately, MY little critter got ahold of it and did some damage to the bottom. he didn't ruin it, but i definitely need to take up the hem a few inches. hopefully i will have it up soon!

MY FAIR LADY

yesterday i got to hang out with a dear friend i haven't seen in forever. megan (that is her name) used to work at sonic so her schedule was pretty similar to mine, aka all over the place, so it was easy to grab lunch here or there. but recently she started working a nine to fiver, so our days of sipping coffee in the afternoons are over...even though i sometimes long for a consistent 9-5 schedule, it seems like it can suck all the time out of your day, esp if you commute. having a flexible, albeit inconsistent, job schedule does have its perks. what do you think?

we decided to meet halfway between her work and my apt. in a little town called roanoke. i had heard of twisted root burgers and was stoked they happened to have one:)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

twisted root lived up to its name:) i decided on a mushroom and swiss turkey burger with fried pickles, and it was delish! my only disappointment was that i was too full for a beer or shake. one thing that i thought was super-cute about this restaurant was that instead of giving you a number for your order, they gave you an "alias." I was 'my fair lady.'

i couldn't help but laugh every time a waitress would call out "niel patrick harriss and kim kardashian your orders are ready!"

i failed to mention earlier just how cute roanoke is. this town cannot be more than 10,000 people, but the little downtown area we were in was just adorable! and it's still super close to dallas, denton, etc. basically the town has one main street consisting of various restaurants, with tons of outdoor seating:) there is an outside music pavilion where they have live music in the summer, and just down the street are a slew of the cutest old houses.

this is the cute little downtown area:)

i am forever considering different towns and their move-in potential, and this one would be great to settle down in with some kiddos--one day:) i say that now but i don't really know if i could ever live in a town that small. i would love to consider myself a country girl, but i think i'm going to have to come to grips with the fact that i really am a city girl. what about you?

here's what i wore that night:)

everything F21 except for vintage mini featured on my etsy store!

some of these pics came out a little washed out, but i am proud of myself for taking these all by myself, my first try with the tripod:)

hope your week is going well!

My So-Called Weekend

this weekend was a relaxing change from most. usually our weekends end up being busier than the actual week, usually b/c there's all this fun stuff that i want to pack in since we don't have to work. friday night we went to fuzzy's taco's (a usual spot) with my sister-in-law lara and her husband manny. no matter how many times i go there i never get tired of their grilled shrimp tacos. the margaritas aren't bad either:)

saturday night we took banjo to the dog park, where he literally became wet with dog drool. it was pretty disgusting, but banjo always looks like he is having the best day of his life whenever we go, so i make the sacrifice:) after that we came home and i fell asleep for 3 hours! and it was not nap-sleep, it was like the legit night-time kind of sleep. that night we went to BJ's brewery to celebrate our friend dorothy's birthday. both lucas and i used to work at starbucks with dorothy, so we ended up seeing a lot of the old "partners" that we worked with and got to catch up--it was a lot of fun:)

a recent development in my netflix watching saga has been watching my-so called life. i was psyched when i saw that a show that i actually like was available for instant watch so i immediately jumped on the angela chase bandwagon.

and how could i, ofcourse, not notice the clothes? i am personally loving the nineties comeback happening in fashion right now, but i wasn't sure i liked or disliked most of angela's outfits. for now i'm going with like. what do you think?

and while we're on the subject, here is an homage to the nineties trends happening right now:)

1. denim
Alexander Wang

2. florals
Kimchi Blue for UO

3. plaid
Otis & MacClain

4. Doc Martens

5. hats!
not sure where i found this!

6. velvet
MissGuided

7. backpacks

Topshop

8. babydoll dresses
Proenza Schouler

9. crop tops
Topshop
and to top it all off, here is a video snippet  i saw on 'my so-called life' that i liked. i think i took away something different from what mr. malcom intended, namely, to love who God created you to be!

and on that note...

happy easter!!!

Grumpypants

i don't know why, but for the past couple of weeks i have been so irritable! i feel like every little thing annoys me or bothers me, and i have no idea why, which is so frustrating! i have been trying not to let it affect how i treat people, but my poor husband really has taken the brunt of it all:(

this picture pretty much sums up how i have been feeling

poor lucas...he hasn't had the best week. he was playing with banjo outside our apartment near a creek and somehow he slipped and fell and hit his shin pretty bad. it was pretty gnarly. i will spare you details but let's just say there was a lot of blood. he had to go to the doctor and get a tetanus shot and has been limping on it and having to keep it propped up most of the time, poor thing:(

on the brighter side of things....we are going to california!

san francisco to be exact, and i am soooo excited! i lived in the bay area for three years after college, and i absolutely loved it. i am really excited to give lucas a peek at my life back then and take him to all my fave restaurants and hangs. i am also excited to see my old roomate beth and a couple of my friends from YWAM who now live in the area, which is gonna be so awesome! i also think i just love the anticipation and having something to look forward to too:)

and what is the reason for the trip you ask? that's the most important part! lucas and i will be celebrating our one year anniversary! yay! so crazy! aaaaand, we will also be partially celebrating our 30th birthdays--even more crazy! i cannot believe i am that old, it's just weird.

anywho, here are a few pics of one of my outfits last week:)

dress, shoes, and shirt from F21

ps--my husband just told me SevenMaryThree used to be his favorite band--hahahahahahahahahahahaha

hope you are having a wonderful week!
