New In My Store

this week i have been "working" but not working:) i have been taking pictures, editing, shopping, and shipping orders, which if i could do full-time i totally would! and i am so excited because i found tons of new stuff for my store. it's gonna take some time to put everything up, but i certainly have had the time lately to work on it. here are a few things already listed:)

Goooooooooal!

since i have been house-sitting these past couple of weeks, i have had a lot more time on my hands. i have a tendency to be lazy, so i don't want to waste all this free time. here are a few goals i have made for myself this summer:

1. work out at least once a week.

i'm going to be honest and say that i am not a fan of working out. if i am going to exercise i like it to be something like hiking or dancing, but those kinds of activities aren't always the most accessible. BUT, the family that i am house-sitting for has a mini workout room with an elliptical machine and TV. so now i can get a 30 minute workout in whilst watching Real Housewives of New York City--schya!

2. sew something.

i always find the cutest vintage sheets that i would love to turn into a top or skirt.

3. bake something.

 

i love eating baked goods, but i never find the time to cook them! if you know of any yummy, EASY recipes, please let me know:)

4. start an herb garden.

lucas gave me an herb starter kit for Christmas. unfortunately, the herbs didn't do so well. they sprouted but soon took a turn for the worst. this summer i want to try again, but this time i'm going to start with herbs that are already full-grown.

5. start reading again.

i love reading, but you would never know it lately. i always start books and never finish them, which is so annoying! now to figure out what book to start reading first:)

i know these are not exactly mind-blowing goals, but i'm trying to be realistic and set goals that i actually think i will achieve. i'll keep you guys updated on how things go:) what are your summer goals?

Dog Day Afternoon

during the summer i use every excuse i can to go out and do stuff--so i was pretty happy when i found out denton was having a dog days of summer celebration. basically there were booths set up outside, live music (a must), and tons o' dogs!

 as you can see, banjo was very excited.

 there was a lot of this going on.

it was pretty freaking hot that day--i'm not gonna lie. they had little doggie pools for the pets to cool off in, but i didn't want banjo to get all wet and dirty. i was afraid the poor thing was going to get heat exhaustion. 

he was fine. turns out, our real concern was this squirrel we encountered walking back to our car. it had to have been a mama squirrel protecting her babies, b/c it was freaking out! it even made hissing noises!

 can't you see the menace in its little beady eyes? anywho, hope you are having an excellent day! so long!

Fill In The Blank Friday

so, i meant to do this last week or the week before, but i kinda got busy...i have been reading these friday posts on courtney's blog, my socalled denver and she always write the most interesting things. turns out that these questions are available to anyone via lauren's blog at the little things we do. so feel free to go to her site and add your own fill in the blank fridays! this is my first one--here goes...

1.   The last movie I saw was   super 8. i don't usually go see movies in theatres b/c it's too expensive, but lucas and i were with a group of friends so that's an exception. i really liked it too! i love coming of age films, and liked this one esp b/c if was set in 1979, a pretty sweet year.

2.  I want to   have a job i love.

3.  Surprises are    awesome! i love love love surprises, esp in the form of gifts and special treats like food stuffs and spontaneous trips.

4.  The best accessory is  makeup. i don't know if that counts, but when i really take care in doing my makeup, which isn't very often, i feel about ten times prettier, and it makes every outfit i'm wearing look better too.

5.  My favorite warm drink is    so hard to decide! i love warm drinks! i used to work at starbucks so i think there is where this obsession was birthed. i lean towards a hot tea with cream and sugar, americano with c&s, or soy green tea latte with a pump of hazelnut--mmmmmmm! sorry i couldn't pick just one!

6.  My favorite cold drink is     again with the drinks! my go to drink is diet dr. pepper, which i like to add a splash of vanilla to at QuickTrip, our gas station (i know, classy). but you also can't beat an ice cold beer, esp when it's hot outside:)

7.  Currently loving     house-sitting. the people i babysit for went out of town for a month and i am dog-sitting/house-sitting. they have a huge, sweet house, complete with pool, slide, and theatre room--i feel like i am on a mini-retreat:)

Everything Is Bigger In Texas

i had so much fun having johanna and her friend jessica stay with us a couple of weeks ago. it was almost like a little mini vacation for me, because i took time off to hang out with them. i did wish that i had more to show them while they were here, but dallas isn't exactly a tourist destination:) plus, it was soooo hot! but that didn't stop us from having a lovely time. here are some pics from their visit.

i took them to uptown dallas and we walked around. we went to a couple of vintage stores, my favorite coffee shop, and ate at urban taco (had to treat them to some good mexican food). the next day we had breakfast at a place called ham and eggs which has super-sized everything--i figured that was a good place to eat since everything is 'bigger in texas.'

i wish i had photos from the next day--we went to the fort worth stockyards, which is kind of like the cowboy part of fort worth--there are cow hide and boots everywhere you look. we even got to see real longhorns walk down the street! good times:)

Pretty. Funny. Just Plain Awesome

i am still internetless...this means i have not gotten to read your lovely blogs:( but i have been pleasantly surprised that i haven't missed it as much as i thought i would. lucas and i don't have cable, so we rely pretty heavily on our internet for entertainment via hulu or netflix. we've rented more movies than usual lately, to make up for our lack of shows. 'a serious man' was okay, and 'city island' was surprisingly pretty good, better than i expected for sure. seen any of these?

this week lucas and i will be going to church camp as counselors with the kids from our church. it's my first time, and lucas' fifth time or something, and i'm pretty excited-- i think it's gonna be a lot of fun:) i will still be posting pre-prepared blogs from camp, but i won't have time to do much more than that--so i will have a lot of reading to do when we get back! in the meantime, here's some eye candy...
